Vitamin A supplementation and food fortification are two successful nutrition approaches that have been scaled up in developing countries of all geographic regions. A2Z applies the lessons learned from these programs in varied settings and builds capacity for their expansion and continued implementation. Three new program areas with evidence of public health impacts are: revitalization of maternal anemia reduction programs, development of child anemia intervention packages, and newborn dosing with vitamin A. The A2Z Project is supporting their implementation and documentation in Africa and Asia. The Project also encourages zinc for diarrhea treatment and salt iodization as proven interventions with important contributions in public health.
